IN THESE UNPRECEDENTED DAYS, WHEN THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IS DEALING WITH COVID-19, THE GOVERNMENT AND HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE ALL AGREED, STAY HOME. STAY SAFE. THE AMERICAN CONCRETE INSTITUTE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER (ACI SO CAL) HAS DECIDED THAT ALL CURRENTLY SCHEDULED CERTIFICATION SESSIONS, AND ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES, ARE TO BE POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, WHEN THE AUTHORITIES DECLARE MEETING TO BE SAFE TO PARTICIPANTS. ACI SO CAL’S OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WE WILL RE-OPEN AND ANNOUNCE DATES FOR CERTIFICATION SESSIONS, AND OTHER MEETINGS, AND ACTIVITIES, WHEN IT IS PUBLICIZED THAT IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THAT THIS MAY CAUSE.

Please note our new email address [email protected] for any questions.  Please note any emails sent to our old address ([email protected]) will not be seen and correspondence needs to be resent to our new address.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the postponement of most ACI Certification exam sessions, disrupting the opportunity for many Technicians, Inspectors, Craftsmen, and Specialists to recertify. ACI has taken the position that the Project Owner's Representative (Engineer of Record, Specifier, etc.) is the proper entity to review a technician's credentials and determine if a waiver of active certification requirements is warranted/appropriate on a project-by-project basis. Therefore, project owner representatives may contact ACI Certification via email for information regarding individuals not appearing on this list to assist the project owner in deciding if they should apply any waiver. Please send inquiries to [email protected].

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

While ACI Certification has not extended any certification expiration dates during this time, we have adjusted the “in-process” date required to complete a certification, for those individuals who may have failed or not completed one portion of their certification (e.g., failed written exam and need to retake within 1 year of passing performance). All in-process dates previously expected to expire anytime in 2020 have been extended to December 31, 2020.

Prometric Testing Centers will begin phasing-in availability of ACI written exams beginning May 1, 2020, subject to state and local restrictions. Some SGs are already formulating restart plans that incorporate ACI University eLearning courses (Field Tech and Strength Tech are currently available) + Prometric testing to limit in-person contact. If your SG has not considered using these tools, please be aware that they are available.

Under NO circumstances should your SG rush to restart ACI Certification-related activities until all safety considerations have been addressed and agreed upon by your SG. As more information becomes available, new developments take place, and new tools become available to address the current challenge, we will be in contact with you.

Thank you in advance for your input!

    Regards,

    Mark A. Campo
