Aggregate Testing Technician Level I

The Southern California Chapter of ACI would like to announce the availability for the Aggregate Testing Technician Level I Certification.  This certification is designed for all personnel involved in laboratory testing and consists of a written and performance examination of the following ASTM/AASHTO standards:

  • ASTM D75/AASHTO T2 - Sampling Aggregates
  • ASTM C40/AASHTO T21 - Test Method for Organic Impurities in Fine Aggregates for Concrete
  • ASTM C117/AASHTO T11 - Test Methods for Materials Finer that   75-u (No. 200) Sieve in Mineral Aggregates by Washing
  • ASTM C127/AASHTO T85 - Specific Gravity and Absorption of Coarse Aggregates
  • ASTM C128/AASHTO TT84 - Specific Gravity and Absorption of Fine Aggregates
  • ASTM C136/AASHTO T2 - Sieve Analysis of Fine and Coarse Aggregates
  • ASTM C566/AASHTO T255 -Test Method of Total Moisture Content of Aggregates by Drying
  • ASTM C702/AASHTO T248 - Reducing Field Samples of Aggregates to Testing Size

Please note this is not a training class and there is no examination at the scheduled Program Procedure meeting.  Attendance to the Program Procedure meeting is MANDATORY, as study material will be handed out at this meeting.  Please sign up for ONE Program Procedure meeting (April, July, or October).  The performance examinations will be held at each applicant's respective laboratory, or a lab of ACI’s choice and a schedule of all examinations (written and performance) will be determined during the Program Procedure meeting.  Application and fees must be received at least 14 days prior to the Program meeting and pre-registration is mandatory. 


In regards to requests for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, it is not the Sponsoring Group’s responsibility to judge whether or not the individual could do the job if certification is granted. The Sponsoring Group’s only concern is whether or not the individual’s request for accommodation can be provided for and is reasonable. Under the act, the individual making the request must provide written documentation from a doctor or other healthcare provider. The individual must also provide a reasonable amount of lead time to fulfill the special request.
